David and Josh are colleagues and friends who both have strong ties to the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) community. Beginning their careers in 2009 and 2011, they began working primarily with VRS employees and helping them plan for retirement.  They were drawn to this unique group because they saw the need for advice as well as their family ties to education.

David’s parents began their careers as teachers in Virginia and eventually retired as school administrators in Northumberland and Lancaster County after a combined 62 years of service. In addition to his parents, David’s grandmother and aunts retired as educators in Virginia. Continuing the family legacy, David’s sister currently serves as the dean of students with a Virginia public school. Josh’s father, aunt, and grandmother were all schoolteachers in the state of Pennsylvania in the greater Philadelphia region.

At retirement, state employees are required to make major and, in some cases, irrevocable financial decisions. Josh and David saw the missed opportunities and mistakes made by retirees who were misguided or simply unaware of their VRS retirement options.  To help solve this problem, they co-founded www.planyourvirginiaretirement.com to help VRS employees take out the guess work and retire with confidence. 

David and Josh's goal is to help as many VRS employees as possible make informed and educated decisions around their benefits.   Currently they offer this program at no cost and there is no obligation to work with them after going through the program.  However, they know many people will need help with wealth management and financial planning and their hope is they can earn the opportunity to help those who need it.
